A seven days Special camp was organised by the NSS unit of the College from December 23, 2019 to December 31, 2019. A group of volunteers comprising fifty students from UG and PG classes undertook diverse activities as per the programme scheduled by the NSS Nodal Officer Mrs. Savita Khanna.

The day wise report of 7 days is as under:

DAY 1: The camp started with the recitation of College Anthem. A special talk dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev ji was held in the inaugural session highlighting their three major teaching of Sikhism:

Naam Japo- Recitation of God

Kirat Karo- Honest living

Wand Chhako- Sharing with others

Mrs. Savita Khanna shared the participant about the objectives and importance of NSS through a multimedia presentation. Ms. Kiran Bala. Asst. Prof in Punjabi held a discussion on the theme of NSS camp ‘Not Me But Everything’ focussing the attention of the group on Oneness of the Universe and hence sensitising the volunteers for responsibilities towards humans and the environment. The schedule for the ensuing days was laid out and duties were assigned to the volunteers for different activities.

DAY 2: The day was dedicated to the cleanliness drive as per ‘Swachh Bharat Yojna’. The entire area around the College premises was thoroughly cleared by the volunteers. They removed the garbage heaps lying in the surrounding areas and planted tree saplings around Sh. Panna Lal Mahajan Road.

DAY 3: Taking the Campaign of cleanliness further the day was dedicated to “No Plastic” move. A rally was organised at the Ram Bagh Garden to spread this message amongst the public. The volunteers interacted with the children and tourist present in the garden and personally picked up plastic wrappers and polythene bags to ensure cleanliness of this Heritage site.

DAY 4: A session was organised by the Creative forum ‘Sirjana’ to bring forth the creative abilities of the students to highlight the social causes. Posters and Slogans were made on the theme ‘Health is Wealth’ depicting importance of healthy eating; Eco-friendly consumption pattern and simple life style in overall well being in life.

DAY 5: A Visit was made to an NGO “Aagosh”: A School for special children. The volunteers interacted with differently abled children and shared with them a few art and craft ideas and cooking recipes as well. This Camp helped develop empathy in volunteers essential for better community living.

 DAY 6: Under “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat programme” launched by the Govt. of India the volunteers made a power point presentation highlighting the distinctive features of the two States Viz. Andhra Pradesh and Punjab: Geographical, Historical, Cultural, Economical attributes were discussed. A few participants wore the traditional dresses and food items of the two states were also brought and shared during the lunch hour.

DAY 7: The closing ceremony started with a Poem dedicated to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Thereafter, a soulful play on the theme ‘Save Environment’ was enacted by the students and faculty. NSS volunteers reported the work done during the seven days NSS Camp through a multimedia presentation. S. Jagdish Singh, M. Director highly appreciated the efforts of the Volunteers and advised them to imbibe the habit of self-doing. Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Principal applauded the faculty and asked the students to always follow the three golden rules given by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The entire event was coordinated by Mrs. Savita Khanna and Ms. Kiran Bala.
